Where do you buy bacteriostatic (BAC) water you trust?

General1 reply · 19 views · last reply Jump to latest ↓

Every reconstitution question ends up here sooner or later: where do you get bacteriostatic water you actually trust? A pharmacy, a medical supplier, a research shop, the bottle bundled with your order? And since BAC water started disappearing from Amazon this spring, where did you go instead?

Post what you use: the brand, where you got it (name only, no links or codes), the lot number, and whether it's ever been tested. Had a bottle that looked or smelled off? Post that too, with a photo of the label and cap. · edited

BAC water is sterile water with a little preservative (benzyl alcohol) in it, so you can draw from the same vial more than once.

Here's where people actually get it, and the catch with each:

  • A pharmacy. You get the real thing, often Hospira. But the label says Rx only, so in the US you'll normally need a prescription.
  • An online medical-supply store. Some sell the same Hospira vials, but they're often marked Rx and sold in packs of 25.
  • Your peptide shop. Many sell their own BAC water or add it to your order. It's the easiest option, but you're trusting the shop, so check the bottle says who made it.
  • Amazon. This used to be the easy option, but a lot of listings disappeared this spring. One peptide shop had 11 Amazon BAC waters lab-tested, and only 2 had the right amount of preservative and the right pH (the results). That shop sells its own BAC water, so keep that in mind.

How to check the bottle you have:

  • Good signs: a named manufacturer, a lot number, an expiry date and a sealed cap.
  • Don't use it if it's cloudy, has bits floating in it, or the seal was already broken.
  • Looks can't tell you it's sterile. Only a lab test can.

We don't recommend where to buy. Tell us below what you use and how it's gone: the brand, where you got it (name only, no links) and the lot number.
